What Will You Sacrifice for a Steady Paycheck?

SoulPancake recently asked, "When was the last time you cast your dreams aside for a steady paycheck?"

The responses tell the story.

Read them here.

How many people choose security over LIFE! I'm reminded of the words of Helen Keller:

"Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. Security does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than exposure."

What do you think? Why does pursuing your creative passion and pursuing financial stability always seem to be at odds with each other? Which path have you chosen to follow, and why?

A creative passion flows out of our heart: what we care about, what breaks our heart, what brings us joy. The difference we want to make in the world. This is our calling.

Financial stability as a top goal usually means we sacrifice our calling to support the goals of another person or entity--a company, industry, government, boss, etc.

Bottom line: Are we spending our life on what God has "laid on our heart" or on the aims of someone/something else?

I have to add, however, that this isn't always a black and white decision/issue! But God calls us and is able to enable us to answer His call.

Great question, Michael. My thoughts.
